falling in love
you ever think about how falling in love is like walking down a broken escalator? familiar but strange all at once? unheimlich. like you know how stairs work but this is different, the steps are too big and you know you and the steps should be moving but the steps are still and only you are moving. it feels off-kilter. it's not quite what you expect and it's weird but if you don't think about it it's as easy as falling.
you ever think about how falling in love is like getting in a hot bath? like it's too much at first and you think it's going to overwhelm you and then by the end you're happy sitting in your own dirt. but parts of you remain rosy pink and clean. That you come out feeling changed somehow.
you ever think about how falling in love is like peeling off a scab? you know you shouldn't be doing it but you can't stop yourself. how satisfying it is, how slowly you can do it and then all at once the blood spurts out. it all pours out and you can't stop it no matter what you do. all you can do is mop it up and wait for it to dry out so you can do it all again.
you ever think about that?
